How the Process Works

Stage I. Call For Nominations – March through Mid-May

More than 120,000 members of the Twin Cities community have the opportunity to submit nominations to the Super Real Estate Agents™ program. Beginning in March, the program’s independent quantitative marketing company, Crescendo Business Services, begins the four-month research process to identify this year’s Super Real Estate Agents. Individuals from the following groups have an opportunity to make a nomination:

+ All Super Real Estate Agents appearing in the previous year’s listing
+ A sampling of homebuyers who had recent experiences with real estate agents receives a paper ballot or called for a telephone survey
+ Metropolitan mortgage and title companies, where the agent’s skills and preparation needed for successful closing are discerned
+ Mpls.St.Paul Magazine and Twin Cities Business subscribers receive a paper ballot or can make an online nomination

Each of these individuals can nominate up to two real estate agents who they know through personal experience. Each nomination must be accompanied by an assessment of the nominated agent across nine criteria (examples: integrity, market knowledge, closing preparation, etc).

Stage II. Screening & Validation Process – Mid-May through Early June

Each nominated agent is screened against the licensing database at the Minnesota Department of Commerce to ensure the agent holds a valid real estate license and has had no previous enforcement actions.

Nominated agents passing the screening process are reviewed by a panel of twenty real estate industry experts selected to participate in the process based on their experience and knowledge of the real estate industry. Comments provided by panel members are incorporated into the final score for each agent in order to arrive at the final list of Super Real Estate Agents. Safeguards are built into the panel’s review process to reduce the possibility of a panel member influencing the composition of the list as a result of his or her affiliation with any particular real estate brokerage.

Stage III. Final Selection & Verification – Early June

The Super Real Estate Agents list is finalized by early June. Super Real Estate Agents are notified by mail shortly thereafter and asked to verify their contact information that will appear in the Super Real Estate Agents listings of the November issues of Mpls.St.Paul Magazine and Twin Cities Business. The annual list is expected to represent 3% to 5% of the licensed real estate agents in Minnesota.

Stage IV. List Published – November

Each year’s list of Super Real Estate Agents is revealed to the public in the November issues of Mpls.St.Paul Magazine and Twin Cities Business.
